Forgive me Father for I have walked away
Mercies I enjoy even though I’ve strayed
I don’t believe You when You tell me it’s done
My faith not even a mustard seed
How pathetic
I don’t trust You
Don’t You always provide
Every day come through for me
Open my eyes, so I might see
Open my eyes, so I might see
Bless us we have not seen
But have chosen to believe
Before the world You bled for me
Before the world You bled for me
How can I look at You
When you’re so Holy
How can it be
You chose me
How do I grow in faith Father
Tell me I can know You without this pain
So much sorrow
Break down the rich
Exalt the meek
How can I look at You
When You’re so holy
How can it be
You chose me
I’m on my knees
Can’t see the Son
He’s waiting now on the horizon
I’m on my knees
Can’t see the Son
Can’t see

This is a remaster and reissue of the first album by horror metal band Dark Night. This music has the sound and style of classic albums such as Don't Break the Oath and The Fatal Portrait. Those who are familiar with classic Mercyful Fate and King Diamond will know what I'm talking about. Creeptastic vocals and classic metal vibes are in abundance here. Keep in mind that Dark Night is a Christian band. Lyrically speaking, the band takes classic tropes from horror literature and films, as well as lyrical tropes often found in secular metal, and turns them on their heads to show good in triumph over evil. It's really quite brilliant. Really great stuff! Thanks to VOGr for finally making this officially available to those of us residing outside of the band's native country. Matthew Smith
The great NYC black metal group Dawnbreaker returns with another harrowing LP, where brutal riffs are trailed by eerie synths. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 23, 2022
